Who We Are
Bumping River Retreat began with Don and Marilyn Immel’s dream of owning a mountain property to enjoy with their family, away from the frenzy and distractions of life in town. In 2019, they found a property in Goose Prairie which not only fulfilled that dream, but also gave them the opportunity to share their beautiful mountain home with others. They established Bumping River Resort, LLC and the vacation rentals now known as the Bumping River Retreat.
True to its origins, Bumping River Retreat is still a family affair, with Don and Marilyn’s children and grandchildren coming up as often as they can to tackle renovations and repairs on the property or simply to bask underneath the pines and watch the river go by. Don can be found up at the Prairie most days, always working hard to bring about his vision for a space that can be enjoyed and, most importantly, shared. After decades of living and working in Yakima (Don as a business owner, baker, and longtime Costco employee; Marilyn as a teaching assistant with an incredible heart for kids), the Immels are excited to invite their Yakima community to join them for a breath of fresh air up in the mountains, and they are equally excited to establish new community up at Goose Prairie with guests from the rest of the state and beyond.
